报告简介:Social network has become an indispensable part of social activities for many people. Most people share their views, delights and life moments, as well as conduct online purchases on various types of social networks. In particular, a large amount of texts, images, videos and venue check-ins (known collectively as the user generated contents or UGCs) is shared in the process, which forms a rich part of social engagements and contents. The mining of UGCs enables us to study the various aspects of social habits and preferences of users. This talk introduces our research towards building a Live Social Observatory under NExT, a large-scale research center between NUS and Tsinghua focusing on research in extreme search. It first describes our efforts in crawling and managing the huge amount of UGCs, and their visualization. It then discusses our research on analyzing and structuring multi-source UGCs, detecting emerging events, and mining analytics for people, location and organization. Finally, it summarizes our research in analyzing multimedia data to perform brand tracking in Microblog platforms, and extract location semantics from Location-based social network data.
